Mick is one of those dogs that you can rely on to work anything you ask of him. A couple of our Alpacas got out today and I grabbed Mick to put them back. Alpacas are not nice animals for humans to move because if you get behind them they will kick and/or spit at you.
Mick totally took charge and put them back in their field and kept them there while we repaired the fences. I haven't been able to use his sssskit'm command in a while, but today it totally came in handy.
I will try to get pictures of him working them next time.
Lash's puppies are at the fun age now. They explore when I let them out of their pen. They are really wrestling with each other now and have been "killing" their toys.
They had their first venture outside today. It was such nice weather that I made them a pen on the grass and we sat out there cuddling and playing with them. After a couple of hours in the fresh air and sunlight, the puppies are sacked out inside.
Havoc is my sweet little girl. She is just over 18", but don't let her small size fool you. She is rocket fast and moves with ease. She is turning into quite the nice stockdog. I will be getting video of her working in the next few days. Her sister, Zanie, will be here to visit this weekend, so I will get some pictures of the 2 pint size girls.
Taft was quickly renamed Smudge as he was growing up. We renamed him this because of the smudge of black by his mouth. He is Teddy's littermate and is also available. He ha been put on sheep and wants to work. He has a happy go lucky personality while not working, but when it is time to work he is all business.
Teddy is a puppy that we have available from our Jen x Mick litter born January 9, 2008. He is very keen to work sheep and is showing quite a bit of eye already. He is very toy/tug and food motivated. We took some new pictures of Teddy playing with on of his tug toys.
I haven't been doing that much training this week as the weather has been cold, windy and we have even had snow flurries. It is nice today, so back to training we go.
Here are some pictures of the Lash x Sooner kids at 2 1/2 weeks old. They are up on all 4s now and wobbling their way around. Their eyes are almost completely open and their ears are also open now. Pisco and VooDoo's tri color is really starting to come out on their cheeks and ears. They have always had the brown butt. :-)
You can see all of the puppy pictures on our website www.hillcrestbordercollies.com on the litters page.
My love of Border Collies all started with my first Border Collie ADCH MACH Highcroft Blast. He was a rescue and taught me so much about dog training and Border Collies. After I got Blast I knew that Border Collies were "my" dog. I got ADCH MACH Hillcrest Kate and she is our foundation of Hillcrest Border Collies. My Border Collies have worked on many sheep and goat ranches, trialed in herding and are also some of the top dogs in agility. I am dedicated to the life of Border Collies and love every bit about them.
