Check In Tomorrow

Tomorrow will be a fun day with Havoc and Singe's puppies.  It will be their first meal consisting of ground turkey, yogurt and a little goats milk.  I will take pictures an/or video depending on how quick they gobble it up.  Our past litters have inhaled this meal in about 30 to 60 seconds.

The puppies are getting VERY active now.  They bark at each other and they bark at Murray and I when we are in my office or the kitchen.  They are really playing and wrestling with each other too.  We will start their potty training this week as they will now be getting one meal a day for the next week.

The puppies have a few Nannies that watch over them when Havoc is not their.  Lash seems to be the one who never wants to leave the puppy pen.  Singe and Skarlet are also in there watching the puppies.  It was funny when the puppies were about a week old.  Skarlet was interested in seeing what the puppies were, so I lifted a puppy up to her so that she could smell it.  She took off like a bat out of hell.  I about fell on the floor laughing.  Now she looks in on the puppies and isn't freaked out over the noises they make.  Singe, he just loves all puppies and even goes in there with them.  I have caught Grandma Jen licking a few puppy butts lately. Once a mom always a mom.  :-)

It had snowed all weekend which means snow on the ground today.  After back surgery I try not to work dogs in the snow for fear of falling and wrenching my back.  So, today the dogs had tons of running because chores take longer in the snow and then I take them out a lot more during the day because they don't hang out in the backyard as much.  We have an entire chest freezer of meat and bones from our butcher, so the dogs got HUGE bones to gnaw on in the dog room.  I took some pictures and video of them because I absolutely love to watch dogs rip and tear at meat and bones.  I have to download the pictures off of my camera tonight and then if there are any good ones I will post them.

Till tomorrow's fun.....

Trek To Mt. Bachelor

Murray and I decided to go scope out some new places to take the dogs running.  We headed up to Mt. Bachelor area which about 45 minutes from our house.  We have tons of snow parks up there.  This means miles and miles of trails.
We only took 4 of the 9 dogs because Havoc has her puppies and had to stay home and then we weren't sure what the walking conditions were going to be like for the old dogs.  We got there and found that the trails were groomed and all of the dogs could have come, even puppy Fusion.
Lash, Singe, Skarlet, and Risk had a blast and are all sleeping now.

Here are some pictures of the 4 dogs having fun.

Havoc's Puppies Are 3 Days Old

Havoc is doing great being a mommy.  She is up and about walking around the house now, but if she hears a squeak from her puppies she is back in the pen with them.

Here is a video of Havoc and her puppies.  Some of them were having puppy dreams.

Havoc x Singe puppies @ 1 day old

Havoc and Singe's puppies are 2 days old today.  I took these pictures of the puppies last night. I will get some newborn video of them tomorrow.  Not much to see, but squeaking etc.
Connor can not keep himself out of the pen.  He loves to set them on his lap and to also put each puppy on his doggie.  Doggie has been with us since Connor was 1 month old.  Doggie looks very similar to Jen, Havoc's mom, but he has a little brown tinge to him in his white areas.
All puppies are nursing well and Havoc is a great mommy.  Havoc does need to RUN several times a day and then she is content to lay with her puppies for hours on end.  It is amazing how mother nature takes over on something that has never had puppies before.

Havoc Had Her Puppies

Havoc's temperature was holding at 99.5 all of the weekend.  That is until Sunday night, right before bed it dropped to 98.2.  I knew she wouldn't have them until sometime on Monday, so I put a crate right next to my bed so that I could hear if anything went on.  Havoc nested all night long and I would occasionally shine the flashlight on her to make sure she wasn't having contractions.
I was able to whisk Connor to daycare Monday morning and I brought Havoc in the van with us. She just laid under the bench seat.  We came back home and I had to put the garbage out before the garbage truck came.  I locked Havoc in her whelping pen and took the dogs outside with me.  Havoc wasn't having any of that, so I let her come along.  She actually ran around a bit.  I figured I went for a long walk right before I went into major labor with Connor, so this would help Havoc.
We came back in and I put Havoc in her pen.  I guess the running around helped because  she started having puppies at 9:50 am.  WOW, my first day litter since Kate's first litter 7 1/2 years ago.  Havoc's puppies came about 1 puppy per hour with a couple a little closer together.  Havoc had her 6th puppy at 2:00 pm.  We ended up with 3 girls and 3 boys.
Havoc and puppies are doing great.  This is Havoc's first litter and she is an awesome mommy. She only leaves them when I beg her to go potty or when she takes a few bites of food or a drink of water.  Otherwise she is laying with them nursing on her.
Connor was soooo happy when he came home and Havoc had her puppies.  He is so good with them and is so gentle.  He talks to them in such a sweet voice.

I will take individual pictures today and post some of them here and also on my website www.hillcrestbordercollies.com
